Professionals out there that are looking for work or looking to expand with more clients networking is the way to go. Remember back before the internet was booming and everyone was connected? We had to use word of mouth to get out there in the world and make connections. Looking for work was easier to come by through friends and family. When we were out looking for work or opportunities, we made sure to let the people we knew what we were looking for and what are ventures were in hopes that maybe someone that they new could get us that connection.

Now we are in the wave of the future. Networking is now provided on a much larger scale now that everyone has the internet at their fingertips. Sites like MySpace and FaceBook allow us to network with friends and co-workers and their friends as well. We can build our profiles in any way that we want to simply be social to keep in touch or have it displayed as a working professional looking to make connections with others in the same realm of interests.

While "friend networking" sites are booming they are becoming more of just a social gathering. It's hard to find what you are looking for and obtaining the network connections that you need and want unless you are an established company that the younger generations want to be a part of. Those of us that are looking for more professionalism there is a site completely dedicated to that purpose and your business or job search needs. LinkedIn has been up and running for some time now and they have over 36 million users from all over the world in many different industries.

The site membership is completely free to use for everyone. At an estimated new user every second of each minute, you know that the connections that you need to make are just a click away. On the site, set up your profile revolving around your work. It's a great way to display your resume and get your "face" out there. Start searching for your friends and co-workers that may already be on there to get your network started. Put the word out about looking for work and update your profile on a regular basis. Like MySpace and FaceBook you can search their member database for other users, such as prospect companies that are in your field of expertise.

Also on the site is job postings from many reputable companies. You can search for job opportunities and build your network so other opportunities can find you. There are private communities that you can hold chats in with other professionals just like you to discuss what is out there and what your chances are for specific jobs. Speak with those out there that can let you know what companies are looking for in a resume so you can create and build yours to your best advantage. LinkedIn has so many ways for job seekers to find work and all through "word of mouth" so to speak.
