A Closer Look at Google Docs

Google Documents is such a large web based program that I thought we should take a closer look at it today and explore all that it has to offer. The application really is everything that it's cracked up to be. You can go beyond just using it for work and business and can even incorporate it into your personal needs for everything from your personal planner to keeping track of your banking. You never even have to worry about storage space either. Google supplies all their consumers with plenty of it so you never have to stress about deleting what could be very important files.

I use Google Docs everyday and I love it. You have the option to create all types of spreadsheets including invoices. You can search through their hundreds of spreadsheets that are updated on a regular basis to find the perfect one for your needs. All the needed formulas that you would commonly need for the specific document are already set up so those of you out there that aren't Excel savvy, there are no worries. Each of Google's spreadsheet documents work just like Excel so if you are familiar with the different formulas that you can use and need them, you can implement them as needed.

Need to create a presentation with a program like Power Point? Google has you covered there too. Simply click on New --> Presentation and follow the steps from there. Again, Google has their programs set up much like Microsoft Office programs so commands and functions are familiar to everyone and user friendly. Even though some functions may not be available that you are used to having, Google is constantly at work to make changes and add missing elements as quickly as possible.

Every program that Google offers, you have many ways to utilize your documents to make your life easier. You can share documents on the web with other co-workers, select who can see them, who can and cannot make changes to the document and even upload completed documents from your desktop. You can even download Google Docs now free of charge so you can work offline anytime that you want. Every time that you connect, Google syncs up your online documents with your offline to make sure that no matter where you are working from, you have the most current information. In addition to being able to upload your docs, you are also given a unique email address to use so you can take an email and turn it into a Google Doc just by simply forwarding it to your special Google Docs address. The next time you log in, you'll find your email in document format in your "Items not in folders" section.

Google Docs has options to help you keep all your files organized and even color coordinated for even easier navigation. If you are new to some of the programs that Google offers but find yourself in need of using them, don't fret. Google offers a walk-through on all of their programs and you can even watch a YouTube video that will give you a walk through, teaching you step by step on how to use the program and get the most out of it. All the videos are put together by Google staff and can be found in the Help section that is always located in the top right corner of your screen. Check it out and take advantage before you go purchase new costly software.
