Go Wireless

Today you can find a wireless connection just about anywhere you go. In some cities, there is a blanket wireless signal that is available to everyone and for everyone. Wireless allows us to do so many things and in so many places. We can now check our email while waiting at the bus stop or while we are waiting on our coffee order at the local coffee shop. Maybe we want to take the kids to the park but still need to have the internet available to keep the work flowing for the day; now that is no longer an issue for a lot of people. But those of us that don't live in a major city that has a free blanket WIFI signal, we can opt to have our own system installed giving us the freedom of at least moving around the house and back yard freely.

I know that not everyone it tech savvy and that includes me to an extent. Usually I can eventually figure things out but most times the frustration leading up to the final product just isn't worth it. Today, I can tell you that you can install and set up a wireless network your house without knowing a whole lot about it, but honestly, it sucks. After having to make returns and exchanges and repeating the process several times, I did get it down but I never want to have to do that again. I will pay the extra money and have someone else do it for me next time.

There is a solution though, depending on where you are purchasing your wireless materials, you can opt to have a tech guy from the store come to your home and install it for you. They will help you with in encryption, get you set up on the right channel, and make sure that you are protected once online. Prices for the service vary depending on the store that you use. Also you can check around town to see if there are other companies like Geek Squad in your area to get the job done.

If your internet service provider doesn't give you the option of going wireless through them, that doesn't mean that you can't. That just means that they will not supply you with what you need through them. Stores like Best Buy and even WalMart will have wireless routers and cards to install in you computer if it doesn't come equipt with one already. Make sure that you get the chip and router that go together to get the most out of your router. If you don't have the card you have the best signal that you can get no matter how powerful your router is. The person working in electronics will point you in the right direction.

Depending on the size of your house and what quality router you want will determine the price to get you outfitted with internet freedom. Before you make your purchase, be sure to ask what the return policy is on the products that you are buying. Just because you are told that what you have in your hand is what you need doesn't mean that it is. I ran into that problem and had to beg them to take it back for an exchange. Looking around at all the different options, there are some pretty cheap ones that you can chose from. Sadly, with these products, you do get what you pay for. If you want a cheap router, you are going to get a weak signal with slow speeds meanwhile paying a hefty bill for high speed internet through your provider. You may as well go back to dial up.
